Level 2 - Emergency First Aid at Work
This nationally recognised course satisfies the HSE requirements. Your risk
assessment will identify your business needs.
Pre Requisite
· Minimum Age 14 (a candidate, however cannot assume responsibility in the
workplace until the age of 16)
· Must be able to get down onto the floor
· Physically fit
· Happy to work in pairs to demonstrate a physical check of the body (nothing
invasive)
Duration
· 7 hour course (breaks not included)
· Can be run in 2 hour increments over maximum of 3 weeks
· Can be run to suit business needs (out of hours, weekends and nights)
Syllabus
· Understand the role of the first aider, including reference to
· The importance of preventing cross infection
· The need for recording incidents and actions
· Use of available equipment
· Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and
effectively in an emergency
· Administer First Aid to a casualty who is unconscious (including seizures)
· Administer Cardio pulmonary Resuscitation
· Administer First Aid to a casualty who is choking
· Administer First Aid to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding
· Administer First Aid to a casualty who is suffering from shock
· Provide appropriate First Aid for minor injuries (including small cuts, grazes and
bruises, minor burns and scalds, small splinters)
· Introduction to the use of an Automated External Defibrillator
Certification
· Level 2 NVQ
· Lasts for 3 years
· Requalification is to attend the exact same course, 3 years later
Numbers
· Maximum of 12 candidates (for additional candidates another instructor would be
required)
· Minimum of 6 to be held at Company premises
Venue
· This can be held at a venue of your choice, fees will be reduced if own venue
used.
· Refreshments such as tea and coffee would need to be provided.
Level 3 - First Aid at Work
This nationally recognised course satisfies the HSE requirements. Your risk assessment will identify
your business needs. This is the highest level of first Aid training, meeting the statutory
requirements of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
Pre Requisite
· Minimum Age 14 (a candidate, however, cannot assume responsibility in the workplace until the

· Physically fit
· Happy to work in pairs to demonstrate a physical check of the body (nothing invasive)

· 18 hour course (breaks not included)
· Can be run in 2 hour increments over maximum of 9 weeks

Syllabus

and provide the appropriate first Aid)
· Introduction to the use of an Automated External Defibrillator
Certification
· Level 3 NVQ
· Lasts for 3 years
· Requalification is to attend a 2 day course (18 hours) 3 years later

Emergency Response
This is an attendance course and introduces candidates to First Aid.
Pre Requisite
· No age restrictions
· Must be able to get down onto the floor
· Physically fit
· Happy to work in pairs to demonstrate a physical check of the body (nothing
invasive)

· 3 hour course (breaks not required)
· Can only be run as a whole session only and cannot be split
· Can be run to suit business needs (out of hours, weekends and nights)

Certification

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
1 day practical training at our UK wide venues or at your place of work
This course is ideally suited to lower-risk workplaces where a risk assessment has identified the need
for staff to possess appropriate first-aid skills and knowledge.
Our 6-hour course is presented either at our training centres or for group bookings at your
workplace. The course is delivered under the guidance of our specialist First Aid at Work trainers and
uses the latest training techniques to maximise learner recall and confidence. This course covers
CPR and the use of an AED/Defib
This course can be combined with Anaphylaxis and Asthma for Schools, Colleges and Universities.
Who is this course most suitable for?
Your risk assessment will highlight which course is suitable for your business. The EFAW course is
typically for low-risk environments such as offices and shops and for businesses who already have
first aiders trained in the three day First Aid at Work.

per the HSE guidelines.
At our training centres, our courses run from 9.30 through to 16.45 - please
arrive at least 15 minutes before the start time.

Level 3 - Emergency Paediatric First Aid
This nationally recognised course is designed for those that work with children and only partly
satisfies the requirements for Ofsted and EYFS. The Level 3 Paediatric First Aid (12 hours/2 days) will
satisfy Ofsted and EYFS.

(2 units)
This nationally recognised course allows for first aid to be tailored to a specific activity. The 2 day course
includes the EFAW (day 1) with day 2 being tailored to the specific activity, with elements chosen from
the 3 day FAW course.

Level 3 - Immediate Management of Anaphylaxis
This course is designed for anyone, but more importantly for those who may find themselves in a high
risk environment or where it has been identified that there are colleagues in the work place who have
Anaphylaxis.

· Physically fit
· Happy to work in pairs to demonstrate a physical check of the body (nothing invasive)

· Identify triggers for Anaphylaxis
· Describe life threatening problems associated with:
· Airway

· Explain the treatment for Anaphylaxis:
· Non re-breather mask
· Removal of trigger
· Auto Injector: need for use, prepare for use, demonstrate use and key features
· Initial assessment using ABCDE approach

This course is designed for anyone delivering first aid training, as from 1st October 2015, those trainers wishing to continue delivering first aid without an assessor’s qualification, will need this qualification to continue. Skills for Health requirement.
